The TETRA Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) was established in December 1994 to create a
forum which could act on behalf of all interested parties, representing
users, manufacturers, operators, test houses and telecom agencies.
Today the TETRA MoU represents 56
organisations, from 19 countries. The group of manufacturers represents
the entire European PMR industry, exclusive of MATRA and AEG (TETRAPOL).
A larger field trial is under preparation in Denmark to demonstrate
interworking between equipment and user applications from different
suppliers, and to verify the real operation of the standard and its
facilities.
TETRA has now reached a stage of completion from ETSI and a 100%
acceptance from all the European Administrations, and all future
professional users of PMR are encouraged to study the TETRA standard and
wide range of facilities to plan their application for TETRA.
The goal for the TETRA MoU is to provide the users of PMR with the next
generation of systems to see them into the 21st century. It is an
ambitious goal, but with TETRA we believe that we have the means to
achieve this goal.
