A new concept in
mobile phones, the Siemens M35i WAP is both rugged and stylish,
and is resistant to water, shock and dust. Extremely light (just
125g) and ergonomically advanced, the M35i is the ideal companion
for people who need a tough, reliable phone to match their dynamic
lifestyle. |
The M35i includes a WAP 1.1 browser and
integrated modem, which opens the door to the world of mobile on-line
information and business and leisure services.
Avaiable from May 2000, the Siemens M35i mobile
phone is portrayed as the ultimate phone for the WAP (Wireless
Application Protocol) generation with active lifestyles.
Designed to appeal to the increasingly sophisticated
age sector of 16-30, the stylish handset includes exciting new
entertainment features such as "Picture Messaging" and
"Calling Faces". Picture Messaging allows the user to send fun
and emotional images instead or in addition to text messages via SMS.
Calling Faces adds further emotional value to incoming calls by allowing
you to add amusing and personal face icons to important names in your
address book. When your mobile phone rings, the screen will flash with
your chosen face in addition to the name. Other entertainment features
include games and a ring tone melody composer.
In addition, one of its smartest features is the inclusion of
Intelligent Typing* which makes sending text messages very simple and
very fast to use. The user simply presses each desired letter key once,
and the dictionary recognises the words the user is trying to spell.
Users are able to personalise their M35i by selecting the menu level,
the menu format and through programming own user profiles to meet their
individual needs. For example the menu level can be set to
"fast" if simple tasks such as making and receiving calls is
all that is required.
The launch marks the latest step in Siemens' aggressive strategy to
become a leading provider of integrated Internet solutions to all mobile
phone users. With the launch earlier this year of the M35i's sister
products, the C35i and S35i mobile WAP phones, Siemens is now the first
manufacturer to offer Internet capability in extremely competitively
priced mobile phones.
Siemens has appointed Yahoo! Europe, a leading global Internet services
group, as its official WAP content provider. Yahoo! and Siemens are now
working together to provide easy access to WAP services for Siemens
phone and PC companion users.
With a talk time of up to 300 minutes** or a standby time of up to 180
hours** the phone has one of the longest battery lifetimes in its class.
With features such as stopwatch, currency converter, silent alert, clock
with date and time stamp and calculator, the M35i is set to raise the
standard of mobile phones for the growing demands of the private users.
The Dual Band EGSM 900/GSM 1800 status offered on the M35i means that
the phone can be used throughout Europe and Asia on either frequency.
Speech quality is crystal clear thanks to the Triple Rate Vocoder
facility offering superior digital technology.
'Siemens is aiming to increase its sales of mobile phones sixfold within
two years to 60 million units by 2001,' states Peter Zapf, President of
Siemens Communication Devices. 'We recognise that if we are to win loyal
consumers and grow our business, Siemens must offer users a handset that
fits their needs, lifestyle and budget.'
The M35i, available in three exciting colours, will be available in the
shops in May.
