Electromagnetic emissions from the TV and
phone have been minimized using special switching technology. The company
has also developed a battery capable of powering both the TV and TFT-LCD.
The TV operates on just 3 volts but is
claimed to deliver the same picture quality as a portable TV using 9
volts. VHF and UHF reception are also possible.
The TV can be viewed for up to 200 minutes on a single battery charge. The
button for controlling the TV is located above the phone keypad. One touch
of the button and the TV is on screen. If a call comes in while the TV is
on, it automatically switches to phone mode.
The phone itself offers continuous talk
time of up to 170 minutes and standby of 180 hours.
Additional features include a personal information manager, phonebook and
wireless data reception function. With the fashion conscious in mind the
SCH-M220 comes in metallic silver.
The phone is expected to availbale after 3Q2000
