| The dual band
GSM900/GSM1900 phone offers exceptional performance without
compromising design.
The Nokia 8890 is expected to be available around
the world in the second quarter of 2000.
The Nokia 8890 phone simplifies international travel, offering
automatic network selection and a real-time clock, which can
automatically (network dependent) set the correct local time.
With a blue-tinted illuminated display and only 3.2 ounces (91
grams), the Nokia 8890 phone is one of the smallest phones ever made
by Nokia. It combines new features such as voice dialing, predictive
text input and picture messaging with design resembling that of the
Nokia 8850 (dual band GSM 900/1800). The matte aluminum magnesium
cover of the Nokia 8890 makes a pleasing contrast with the chrome
details of the keys and the frame around the display and reflects
the next design trend - subtle colors and clean lines combined with
timeless simplicity.
The innovative features of the Nokia 8890 phone include voice
dialing, allows the user to store up to 8 voice tags in the phone
memory. Once the voice tag is recorded, a phone call can be made
simply by activating the feature with a single keystroke, or the
button on the headset, and saying the prerecorded name to the phone.
The Nokia 8890 has an infrared link for wireless communication with
a compatible Nokia phone or a compatible PC or printer. And the
Nokia 8890 phone supports standard communications protocols. You can
transfer, for example, phone numbers with the infrared link between
compatible phones or you can download new phone numbers and ringing
tones over the air.
The infrared port of the Nokia 8890 phone enables
the transfer of phonebook
entries and messages between compatible phones and for data transfer
using the phone's built-in modem.
Another new feature is the real-time clock, which
can automatically receive the correct local time from the network
where service is available.
The Nokia 8890 has a built-in vibrating alert, and
it supports all three wireless voice codecs, HR, FR, and EFR, as
well as the extended GSM 900 bandwidth, the EGSM band. |
