The Nokia 3650 is a Series 60
Platform smartphone with Symbian OS version 6.1.
Nokia licenses the Series 60 to other phone
makers, including Siemens AG (SI), Samsung Electronics Co. and
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (MC).
The Nokia 3650 is MIDP-Java™ capable and comes with an on-board digital color camera.
The tri-band device will be launched globally, providing developers a
single platform regardless of geographic market. Applications written
for the Nokia 7650 imaging phones are compatible with the new Nokia
3650.
- Functionality and features
The Nokia 3650 camera takes pictures at a resolution of up to 640 by
480 pixels with a pallet of up to 16 million colors. It is also a Java
phone and runs version 1.0 of the MIDP Java profile as well as some of
the Nokia extensions including:
- Nokia UI API
- Multimedia API (including some MMS extensions)
It provides e-mail services via SMTP, IMAP4, and POP3, and will
render XHTML Mobile Profile. Of course it also supports Multimedia
Messaging Services (MMS), SyncML, a PC Suite, a Calendar, and "To Do"
functionality among other ready-to-run-applications.
The new device has 4 MB of memory, allowing greater multimedia
storage. The imaging phone supports removable memory cards for even

The device also provides location-based tracking functionality through
EOTD technology.
- Developer community support
Nokia has been working closely with the developer community in support
of the device launch. An
early access training program was delivered to invited developers
during August 22 - 23 in Irving, Texas.
Nokia also worked with developers which have experience delivering
commercially successful applications for the Nokia 7650 imaging phone.
