Nokia CDMA chipset-based Nokia 3585i phone offers new choice for CDMA
carriers and users
Nokia’s newest CDMA handset combines the features most desired by consumers
while offering CDMA operators a new choice as they migrate subscribers to new
GPS-enabled CDMA2000 1X networks.
The new Nokia 3585i phone (CDMA 800/1900MHz/AMPS) features a wide range of
personalization options, an enhanced wireless browsing experience and advanced
voice functionality. The Nokia 3585i is expected to ship during the first
quarter of 2003.
The introduction of GPS capability on the Nokia 3585i phone, which is based on
the Nokia CDMA2000 1X chipset, allows Nokia to offer a solution for operators
needing to add location enabled handsets to their expression category product
offerings.
“Nokia has always stood for offering choices to the market. Whether it is a
color cover or a ring tune for a consumer, or a wireless technology for an
operator, freedom of choice ensures that consumers get a product that suits
their individual needs and wants,” said Soren Petersen, senior vice president
and general manager of CDMA for Nokia. “The new Nokia 3585i phone represents
another appealing choice for CDMA customers and operators alike.”
An exciting selection of Xpress-on (TM) color covers is available for the Nokia
3585i phone, including glow-in-the dark covers and ‘active’ covers with embedded
electroluminescent graphics that light in rhythm with the ring tone. Along with
standard downloadable ring tones, owners can create an even more personal mobile
experience by uploading polyphonic MIDI ring tunes to the Nokia 3585i phone from
a PC via the optional data cable.
The large display found on the Nokia 3585i phone combined with high-visibility
expanded screen fonts and four-way scroll keys makes using the built-in wireless
Internet browser a simple, enjoyable experience. For easy access to the 500-name
phonebook in the Nokia 3585i phone, voice tags can be added to 25 of the most
used numbers for one-touch voice access. Additionally, a built-in voice memo
recorder allows owners to record up to one minute of voice for such notes as
directions, reminders, or phone numbers.
