Telecom Namibia plans to invest NAD240 million (USD40 million) this year
in modernising its infrastructure and boosting connectivity to rural
areas
It is planning the network improvements ahead of the
expected passing of a new Telecommunications Bill to open up the fixed
line market to competition later this year.
In Angola it acquired 44% of fixed line operator
MundoStartel two years ago, and it is part of the CommuniTel consortium
that holds a 13% stake in South Africa’s second national operator (SNO).
