Spatial NetWorks’ new WatchLink technology tracks
and maps nationally registered sex offenders and predators and e-mails
reports detailing the locations, status and movement of the offenders in
the area. WatchLink was designed to promote safety and awareness in
communities across the nation.
WatchLink is used as a public notification system and tool for local
government and law enforcement agencies across the nation. While every
state, county, and city follows different laws regarding registered sex
offenders and sexual predators, the public needs to know as much as they
can about the whereabouts of these individuals. This technology empowers
the public to become proactive in protecting their families when they
are at their homes, schools, daycares, offices or churches.
WatchLink is linked to participating local government and law
enforcement websites where residents can register for this service. Once
registered, residents receive immediate e-mail notifications when
changes occur in the location or status of a registered sex offender or
predator near their location. Data regarding the registered sex
offenders and predators is updated daily, hourly, or as required,
depending on the local government’s needs.
While other web-based services give information about the locations of
registered sex offenders, WatchLink shows residents these locations in
relation to their home, school, daycare, office or any other place of
interest. Pictures, names, aliases, convictions and complete physical
descriptions can be made available to the public, depending on the state
laws. The full report is linked to an easy-to-use interactive map that
provides the best vehicle for pushing the information about registered
sex offenders to the public.
