Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) is to deliver mobile
music to Polkomtel SA, operator of the Polish Plus GSM mobile network.
MegaMuza, the music service of Polkomtel SA,
aims to deliver music from all major record labels as well as from
numerous independent labels to 9 million Plus GSM subscribers.
The variety of content is a distinctive feature of the service: mono-
and polyphonic ringtones, real tones, mobile handsets graphics and
artist news. Music videos and a huge selection of full-length tracks
from major labels will be added this year. MegaMuza is available to
Plus' customers on internet: http://www.plusgsm.pl/megamuza, as well as
on operator's WAP portal.
MegaMuza was created in cooperation with Ericsson, which took
responsibility for Plus' music platform development, digital rights
management, integration, hosting, content aggregation and content
management.
"We are happy to manage Polkomtel's music offering, and we are very
pleased that all major labels have decided to be part of the service,"
says Lars E. Svensson, President of Ericsson Poland.
"MegaMuza enabled Plus' customers to benefit from the highest-quality
music services."
"Plus is aware of the huge potential of mobile music. Development of
mobile terminals is not only connected with new mobile services (e.g.
MMS, PTT), but also with expanding their functionalities to camera and
music player" said Miroslaw Bielicki, Polkomtel SA Board of Directors
Vice-president. "Due to larger availability of such telephones we look
forward with optimism to mobile music sales potential. The cooperation
with Ericsson on MegaMuza ensures accomplishing our goals."
Ericsson's personalized music service is utilized by more mobile
operators than any other in the world.
The hosting solutions for enablers, content and applications are part of
Ericsson's industry leading managed services offering. Ericsson offers
the operators mobile services, including world-class content, within
five different categories - music, multiplayer gaming, video and
multimedia subscriptions and downloads.
