Samsung is selling 500,000 handsets for
terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) to China. Terrestrial
DMB enables Mobile TV to mobile handhelds.
It will ship 200,000 units to
Beijing-based Jolon DMB, an affiliate of Beijing Radio Broadcasting for
an April Lunach, and 300,000 DMB phones to Guangdong Mobile Television
Media
Britain will trial DMB in April while
Germany will roll it out for the World Cup
Credit Suisse First Boston says that the
market for mobile broadcasting phones will reach 10 million units in
this year, 40 million in 2007, 90 million units in 2008 and 150 million
units in 2009.
