Motorola Inc. announced today that they have successfully co-developed,
with NTT DoCoMo, a high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) prototype
that can be used on WCDMA(3GPP Rel5) networks worldwide. The prototype
which achieves a downlink data rate of up to 3.6Mbps(*), is optimized to
enable maximal use of future high-speed data applications and new
services.
"This result of co-development by Motorola and NTT DoCoMo reflects the
close relationship between the two companies as well as our technical
innovation toward the implementation of mobile broadband." said Bill
Werner, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Devices
Business, Motorola, Inc.
"Now, through the successful development
of this prototype, NTT DoCoMo and other carriers worldwide will be able
to utilize the latest technologies to offer new services and
experiences. Motorola is committed to driving continued innovation and
developments to deliver a seamless mobility experience to consumers."
Leveraging the achievement of joint development with NTT DoCoMo,
Motorola will be able to actively undertake the Interoperability Test
partnering with carriers and vendors from around the world
