LG Boosts Profits in Africa and Middle East

LG Electronics recorded an increase of 38 per cent in its sales turnover touching $2.1 billion in its Middle East and Africa operations in 2004.

LG will launch 3G phones with Etisalat and has linked up with foreign content providers to localise the content in Arabic, inorder to attract the customers in UAE. The sales of GSM handsets in 2004 touched $169 million.

The company's biggest selling regional markets last year were Iran, accounting for $388 million in turnover, the lower Gulf, touched $364 million in sales and South Africa, reporting sales of $ 344 million. Turkey registered sales of $145 million, Iraq $65 million and Morocco $112 million."
