ISTANBUL, Turkey, Jan 5 2005
Motorola has gained a contract to deliver a Push-To-Talk over Cellular
(PoC) system to Turkcell, Turkey's leading GSM operator. Turkcell's PoC
service is available to subscribers using Motorola's V400p handsets.

With Motorola's PoC system, Turkcell now offers its subscribers walkie-
talkie style mobile phone conversations with individuals or groups of friends
or colleagues. A one-touch dedicated button to presence-enabled phone
contacts, gives users the flexibility of mobile messaging combined with the
familiar use of voice.

"Turkcell prides itself on being an innovator. We are always looking to
offer excellence, choice and new products to our customers. Motorola has
proven PoC expertise and we want to pass on the benefits of this advantage to
our valued customers. Motorola's PoC service opens up a whole new realm of
voice services," said Muzaffer Akpinar chief executive officer for Turkcell.
"We predict the demand for PoC will grow as quickly as SMS and we want to be
ready in time. As an operator we see PoC as an opportunity to expand
services in the existing market."

With Turkcell, Motorola now has 23 contracts to supply PoC infrastructure
solutions to customers operating in 27 countries and territories worldwide.
The contract with Turkcell is in addition to commercially launched systems in
North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and EMEA and a number of PoC trials
and market pilots that Motorola has implemented and has scheduled with
wireless operators in EMEA in 2005.

"This contract with Turkcell demonstrates the importance European mobile
operators are placing on PoC services. Turkcell represents a significant
opportunity for Motorola to show technology innovation whilst working with an
important regional operator with exciting growth potential," said Margaret
Rice-Jones, corporate vice president and general manager for Motorola's
networks business in EMEA. "PoC is our first IMS application and shows our
commitment to future VoIP and network convergence technology."

Motorola's PoC solution is based on its IMS platform, which lays the
foundation for further 'Push-To' applications including Push-To-Text, Push-To-
View, and Push-To-Video. In addition to providing its PoC server and
handsets, Motorola's PoC client software is available for license to third
party handset manufacturers and software developers.

    Push-to-Talk over Cellular Defined
Push-to-Talk over Cellular is similar to a walkie-talkie experience; it is
a means of quick one-to-one or group communication. Instead of dialing a
number to start a conversation, with one push of a button you simply go to a
"buddy list" and select the person you want to contact. Push the button
again, talk and your voice is heard by the recipient.
You can also create group calls so everyone on your buddy list can hear
your message simultaneously -- just as in a telephone conference. Instead of
having to call each recipient individually, a push of the key is all it takes
to send a message directly to an entire circle of friends or work colleagues,
for example.
For network operators, PoC opens up a whole new realm of voice services,
as it significantly enhances telephone service. Experience has proven that
consumers with PoC features on their phone tend to use their handset more,
potentially providing mobile operators with higher average revenues per user.
And, PoC service fits a variety of user needs i.e. small, medium and large
enterprises that need frequent intermediate contacts.

    Motorola & Interoperability
Motorola is committed to the industry-led effort to define technical
standard specifications for PoC. Interoperability is an enabler for broad-
based acceptance of a new service like PoC and is fundamental to ensuring PoC
services to meet user expectations whether on their home network or whilst
roaming. Motorola continues its work with other industry leaders and has
announced joint interoperability testing to promote a final PoC standard for
submission to Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).
In February 2004, Motorola announced its PoC Device Interoperability
Program, extending its commitment to make its interface specifications
available to licensees, and will help speed the introduction of a wider choice
of PoC handsets to market, benefiting both consumers and operators.
