Vodacom has announced the first of its 3G data packages, with others to follow. The first package, at R599 per month on a 24 month contract, gives users 1GB of data transfer per month along with a Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card.

They also provide a a SIM card provisioned for 3G and a free connection.

Extra Megabytes of traffic will cost under 60c per Meg.

Vodacom has 3G coverage in Johannesburg, Sandton, Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria and Sun City.
