Morocco's Marco Telecom has ordered a GPRS network
monitoring platform from ADC. ADC has won the contract with Maroc Telecom
via its partner in the region, Audilog.
"Maroc Telecom has always played an important part in
developing Morocco's network infrastructure and introducing new services to
the region," said Vladimir Waksman, chief executive officer for Audilog.
"We believe that ADC's world-class products combined with
our local knowledge will help Maroc Telecom to further promote universal
access to telecommunications and accelerate the deployment of quality,
sophisticated mobile services in the Kingdom."
"Over the past few years, Maroc Telecom's mobile business
has grown exponentially with the number of wireless subscribers outnumbering
fixed line subscribers four to one," said David Heaps, senior vice president
and general manager of the Metrica group of the Software Systems Business
Unit for ADC.
"This is an exciting time for Maroc Telecom and we looking
forward to working with them and our partner, Audilog, to address the
increasing number of opportunities for GPRS services in the region."
Maroc Telecom is Morocco's leading telecommunications
provider, offering mobile, fixed and Internet access to its local and
international customers.
Vivendi Universal holds 35% of Maroc Telecom's shares and is
responsible for managing its operations. Maroc Telecom has over 4 million
mobile phone subscribers and 1.2 million fixed-line telephone subscribers.
