CDMA WIRELESS LOCAL LOOP WILL HELP ADDRESS DEMAND FOR SERVICES

Telecom Egypt is to install a CDMA WLL access system in the Nile River Delta area. The wireless local loop (WLL) technology is being provided by ZTE and will help the Egyptian operator address the demand its telcoms services are generating.

The project represents the first large scale deployment of ZTE´s CDMA kit in Egypt and the Chinese equipment manufacturer has spent the past seven months customizing and testing the solution for Telecom Egypt.

The network will have a total capacity of 60000 subscriber lines, extending Telecom Egypt´s services into rural and remote areas where its existing copper network doesn´t reach.

"Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a project to cover the whole of Egypt. "says Akil Beshir, Chairman of Telecom Egypt.

The move gives a boost to ZTE´s strategy of global expansion. It claims to have deployed CDMA solutions in over 30 countries by the end of last year.
