Sharp has selected Ericsson Mobile Platforms to supply GSM/GPRS mobile platforms, extending their successful corporation in 3G to GSM/GPRS.

Under the license agreement Ericsson will supply Sharp its quad-band G210 platform for GSM/GPRS. The G210 is a compact and powerful GSM/GPRS platform with less than 100 components, best in class power consumption and advanced integrated multimedia feature support.

"Sharp builds some of the most advanced phones in the world and we are very happy that our G210 platform meets their requirements," says Sandeep Chennakeshu, President of Ericsson Mobile Platforms. "Our GSM/GPRS platform is among the most stable and widely tested platforms in the world."

"The EMPG210 platform was a good fit for our advanced display, camera and multimedia feature needs," says Masafumi Matsumoto, Corporate Executive Director and Group General Manager, Sharp Corporation.

"We chose the Ericsson Mobile Platforms G210 platform due to the ability to reuse our 3G application suite, the flexibility, which allows us to differentiate the product, its stability, low power consumption and small size."
