TECORE® Wireless Systems, a pioneer supplier of new generation wireless systems, announced today that it has deployed a GSM wireless network for Somafone, a new nationwide operator in Somalia.

The Somafone network will initially provide coverage to the capital city of Mogadishu and extend into the surrounding regions.

This turnkey project includes the deployment of TECORE’s GSM-based AirCore® MSC/VLR (Mobile Switching Center/Visitor Location Register), Prepaid System, SMSC (Short Messaging Service Center), AirNet® GSM AdaptaCell® Broadband Software-Defined Base Stations and AirSite® Backhaul Free™ Base Stations.

As the political situation in Somalia continues to stabilize with the establishment of a new government, TECORE has strengthened its commitment to operators deploying wireless networks throughout the country. New networks will create job opportunities, expand commerce, and improve communications both nationally and internationally.
