Motorola plans to double its share of the SE Asian mobile phone market compared to 8%-9% at present, according to Mike Zafirovski, COO, who did not give a timeframe for the target.

The company will increase its use of Singapore as a test-bed for new technologies. The size of the workforce of Motorola Singapore will be maintained at 2,200 employees.

Zafirovski said that the global 3G mobile phone market outside Japan will hit at least 6 million-10 million units in 2004, and possibly twice as much.
