Orange Côte d'Ivoire installs SMS-based information service

Swapcom, leading European provider of mobile software systems, announces today that the African telecom operator Orange Côte d’Ivoire have selected Multimedia Mobile Information Portal (MMIP) to compile its mobile Information service via SMS.

Since now, Orange Côte d’Ivoire only offered its customers IVR infotainment service. Orange Côte d’Ivoire’ subscribers can now access various information services such as cinema program, sports results, international breaking news, horoscope, list of the restaurants, musical current events or the good bargains... and these directly on their mobile phone from the 711 short number. After each consultation, the users have the possibility to receive for free SMS the text restitution of the listened chronicle. To rapidly improve Orange Côte d’Ivoire IVR services onto SMS services, Swapcom provided the operator with its content management solution ‘Multimedia Mobile Information Portal’ (MMIP).

MMIP enables carriers or services providers to format and integrate different kind of contents (text, pictures, sound files…), to create thematic headings of information. The software also offers to users an easy access to information by subscription or on request (push or pull). Finally, MMIP manage the sending of the content on various media like SMS, EMS, Wap, email or MMS.

On the African market getting information’s is not easier than in Europe, this complete and trouble-free solution allows telecom operators and services provider to effectively implement high value-added mobile services and to handle with the users’ needs.
