A fear of furtive photography led Australia's biggest operator of
swimming pools to ban cellphones from changing rooms.
The Young Men's Christian Association ordered its 300 gyms, pools and sports
centres to take precautions against those cellphones that can take and send
photographs.
YMCA chief executive Bob Nicholson said "it's a proactive response to a
potential problem".
The Royal Life Saving Society has also urged the 3 000 public swimming pools
to be proactive.
Royal Life Saving Society of Victoria chief executive Norm Farmer said
cellphones with webcams built into them were a potential public nuisance.
"We're concerned about people's privacy - and private parts being shown to
all and sundry," he told ABC Radio.
