Mobile Commerce and Followus collaboration enables Followus to pinpoint the location of standard mobile phones for their commercial customers.

Mobile Commerce the UK’s leading provider of location information, is pleased to announce it has entered into a one year contract with Followus with an option to renew, for the supply of location data that will enable Followus to offer tracking services using mobile cell masts.

Under the terms of the contract, Followus will take the optimised location data supplied by Mobile Commerce, and then using its unique software coding technologies, is able to deliver accurate location information to its commercial customers via the Followus website. Location is displayed on street-level maps.

The advanced Followus development enables companies to pinpoint their mobile phones, or alternatively, a valuable package, vehicle, trailer or even plant machinery using the Followus Asset Locator device.

“We are delighted to conclude this agreement with Mobile Commerce," says Martin Brown, Commercial Director for Followus. "Our collaboration will enable a Followus customer to locate their company mobile phones without the need for them to pay for additional high cost GPS hardware solutions offered by our competitors – So long as they have company mobile phones, then we can locate them. This is a real answer to the problem of locating employees in accordance with tightening HSE requirements that demand a safe working requirement for employees, whilst working ‘in the field’. Our development has swung open the barn door and will enable both large and small companies to introduce location information into their businesses, at low cost and fully scalable. What’s’ more, we can charge our customers on a Pay-As-You-Go basis. It simply does not get any better if you Followus! Look out for our home user service later in the year."

“Location technology has largely been associated with consumer applications only, when the technology is also extremely useful for the corporate and commercial market," says Steve Page, CEO of Mobile Commerce. "At a time when everyone is looking to drive down costs and make the most of company assets this collaboration will allow businesses to do just that, through tracking technology. We are delighted to be working with Followus.”
