Austrian mobile revenue worth EUR 2.19 bln in 2001 |
The mobile phone market in Austria experienced an increase in revenue to
EUR 2.19 billion in 2001 compared to EUR 1.8 billion in 2000, according to a
report by the Financial Times citing a survey from the RTR, Austrian telecoms
regulator. The fixed-network revenues declined to EUR 1.85 billion compared to EUR
1.90 billion. The number of phone call minutes rose in 2001 thanks to strong Internet
use. Since the Austrian telecoms market was liberalised in 1998, the volume of
call traffic minutes has increased by 130%, and per/min prices decreased with
60%. The RTR also received a record over 1,400 complaints from customers about
overcharged phone bills compared to 412 in 1998
