Nokia has introduced a wallet application with the
Nokia 6310, the first Nokia mobile phone to incorporate a wallet application feature that facilitates online payments.
The development of the mobile wallet application offers access to a new variety of services on mobile phones - in a very user friendly way.
The wallet application enables users to conduct online transactions via the WAP browser.
Users can store protected personal information, like credit and loyalty program card details as well as shipping and billing details, inside the
terminal.
The data inside the terminal is secured with a special wallet code to authenticate the user to the application.
The wallet application makes the use of virtual cards flexible, and simplifies the storage and retrieval of personal information in mobile transactions.
By enabling Internet-type payments using the
ECML (Electronic Commerce Modeling Language) standard, the wallet offers service providers easy adaptation of their current e-business to the mobile world. The phone will be available during the fourth quarter, 2001.
