Man arrested for SMS bomb threat to bank

A young man was arrested in Bronkhorstspruit near Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly sent a cellphone message (SMS) containing a bomb threat to a bank, police said. 

Sergeant Anton Breedt said the bank manager of the Standard Bank in the town received an SMS between 9am and 10am on Tuesday morning, saying that there was a bomb in the bank, 

The bank was evacuated and the police's bomb disposal unit was called in from Pretoria. 

They searched the premises but found nothing. 

The supposed culprit, who is in his 20s, handed himself over to the Bronkhorstspruit police on Tuesday afternoon. 

Breedt said the suspect was arrested and would appear in court soon. - Sapa
