Setec has launched the first SIM card based MicroBrowser, that enables secure mobile banking and commerce.

This latest innovation enables a real-time share trading through mobile phones. This technology is the heart of SingTel Mobile's newly released e-commerce infrastructure that utilizes the Wireless Internet Gateway (WIG). Microbrowser has been developed in a joint project by AU System Mobile, Sweden, and Setec on Setec's 16K SIM card.

There is a growing interest in the marketplace for mobile phone internet access. The need for an open system that is operator and mobile phone model independent is an urgent one.

The MicroBrowser converts html language into Short Message Service (SMS) and makes it possible to receive and forward trading information to mobile phone. To use this solution one does not need a WAP phone, so it can be operated through the existing GSM network. As a result, the MicroBrowser is an internet browser on a SIM card.

With MicroBrowser mobile e-trading is possible even if the investor is at the office, at home or on holiday. The solution enables the buying and selling of stocks, cancelling and amending orders, receiving stock prices and volume alerts through an easy-to-use SMS. And the information is always on time.

Today Setec is the only provider for this highly secure MicroBrowser. The solution takes the e-trading into the next generation and opens enormous possibilities to mobile trading business.
