Who launches satellites?


The majority of full-sized satellite deployments to geosynchronous orbit are conducted by seven launch vehicles.

The Arianespace consortium of Europe is preparing to introduce its Ariane 5 for commercial use. 

Lockheed Martin obtained the Atlas  rocket line through its acquisition of General Dynamics. Boeing is preparing to introduce the Delta 3 to correct its incompatibility problems with current commercial satellites.

China Great Wall Industries' Long March series has conducted more than 50 liftoffs. 

International Launch Systems, a venture led by Lockheed Martin, markets the Proton rocket in the West. In its four-stage version, Proton can launch a satellite straight into geosynchronous orbit.

At its Russian launch facilities, Soyuz rockets can send off astronauts and conduct satellite deployments to geosynchronous orbits. 

Boeing's Sea Launch venture, using the Ukrainian Zenit launcher, has a semisubmersible converted oil platform that functions as the launch pad.
