The applications of these portable offices are enormous: logging onto the Internet, CompuServe, a BBS, or connecting to an office LAN from the middle of nowhere. You can also send and receive faxes, either live or forwarded from a GSM fax mailbox. Many now can now tap into company databases to check on stock and send orders from the remote site. Some companies are even using the technology for security applications, sending live PC video via the GSM to control centres hundreds or even thousands of kilometers/miles away.
