A standard call is classed as a call made in one Telkom SA Primary Exchange region and terminating in one or more Telkom PE, which might or might not be in the same province/area as where the call was made.

For example, a standard call could be:

Call originating in the Northern region of South Africa & terminating in Telkom SAs PE 01

Call originating in the Central region of South Africa & terminating in Telkom SAs PE 03 & PE 05

Call originating in the Southern region of South Africa & terminating in Telkom SAs PE 02 & PE 04

A long-distance call could be a call made to an area not within a "nearby" Telkom PE stated above.

eg: A call made the Nothern Region and terminating in PE 1 is a standard call
eg: A call made the Nothern Region and terminating in PE 4 is a long-distance call
